FLAC is the lossless compressed audio format favoured by audiophiles and archivists. VTT (WebVTT) is the caption format HTML5 video and streaming platforms accept natively. SnailText reads the FLAC audio, transcribes the speech with the Whisper model, and writes a phrase-level VTT, all on your machine.

Does FLAC lossless quality improve VTT caption accuracy?

Lossless FLAC gives Whisper clean input with no compression artifacts, which often produces more accurate captions than a compressed format. Higher sample rates are automatically resampled to 16 kHz before inference.

What is the difference between FLAC to VTT and FLAC to SRT?

VTT (WebVTT) is the web-native format for HTML5 video and streaming. SRT is older and more widely supported in media players and editing tools. SnailText generates both, you pick before the run.

Does SnailText burn the subtitles into the video when I use FLAC to VTT?
