VTT (WebVTT) is the caption format HTML5 video players, YouTube, and most streaming platforms accept natively. If you have a podcast clip, recorded talk, or audio-only file you are publishing alongside a video on the web, an MP3-to-VTT conversion gives you captions you can reference with a simple <track> tag.

How do I convert an MP3 to a VTT file?

What is the difference between MP3 to VTT and MP3 to SRT?
VTT (WebVTT) is the web-native format for HTML5 video and streaming platforms. SRT is older and more widely supported by media players and editing tools. If you are publishing on a website or YouTube, VTT is usually what you want. SnailText generates both.
Can I use the VTT from an MP3 on a website?
Yes. VTT is the standard format for the HTML5 <track> element. Once SnailText generates the .vtt from your MP3, reference it in your video tag or upload it to YouTube as a caption file.
Does SnailText burn the subtitles into the video when I use MP3 to VTT?
No. SnailText writes a separate VTT file and does not hardcode captions into the video. That keeps the subtitles editable and lets you attach them in any player or editor. If you want them burned in, overlay the file in a video editor afterward.
